The first time I played Backrooms: Escape Together, my team had a simple plan: split up, find the objectives, and leave as quickly as possible.
That plan lasted about five minutes.
One player got lost looking for a key item, another started yelling through voice chat communication because something was chasing them, and nobody could remember which hallways had already been searched. That's when I realized this co-op horror game is a lot harder than it looks.
Unlike many horror games, you can't rely on memorizing routes. The maps use procedural generation, so every run feels different.
Your goal is to complete objectives and find the exit while surviving the dangers hidden throughout the Backrooms. Most of the time you'll be exploring rooms, collecting items, and solving horror puzzles with your teammates.
I learned this lesson pretty quickly. Solo exploration sounds efficient until you need help and have no idea where your teammates are. Small groups work much better for team-based exploration.
Good multiplayer survival runs usually come down to communication. Let teammates know when you find useful items, complete objectives, or spot something dangerous.
It's easy to waste time checking every room. When resources start running low, stop wandering and focus on the next objective or exit.
The best moments in Backrooms: Escape Together online gameplay are the unexpected ones. Sometimes your team clears an area without problems. Other times you're carrying the final objective item while a friend is completely lost somewhere in the maze. Those unpredictable situations, mixed with escape room mechanics and online co-op adventure gameplay, make every session feel like a different story.
